“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1
Six weeks ago I began doing the Couch-to-5k running program (for about the 3rd time I might add). To be honest my intent was driven in large part by vanity. I was excited about the changes running would make in my physical appearance. I never expected the blessing it would end up being spiritually.
Each time I do a run, I focus on Jesus. I have a playlist on my ipod named “spirit workout” which features songs that praise His Name. For me, the run is a physical & spiritual discipline.
It is sometimes painful & difficult just to keep plugging along. But as I am challenged, I quote scripture (in my head). I’m meditating on TRUTH like, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. It ends up being a worship service. So as I’m disciplining my flesh it is naturally, “taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.”
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
