Buttermilk Fudge Sauce

What is your favorite ice cream topping? Hands down, mine is hot fudge!!! I tried a few different recipes until I found this one that I adore. I make it whenever I have leftover buttermilk. Whip this up in no time then grab some whip cream & cherries ; )

Buttermilk Fudge Sauce
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 Tb cornstarch
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla extract
In a small saucepan whisk sugar, cocoa & cornstarch together & tell well combined.  Whisk in buttermilk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat & simmer 5 – 7 min on lower heat. When this is done it will be darker & smooth, with a glossier sheen than before. It will resemble chocolate syrup by the time you are finished. Remove from the heat & stir in the vanilla. Store leftovers in the fridge. Makes about 8 oz.
