Week of February 25th, 2008

Whew, this has been one busy past two weeks in the life of our family. Today we finished our third day of school for the week which is my goal for our little preschool. This whole week we have been reading “Angus Lost” by Marjorie Flack. It’s about a little black dog (that looks alot like our dog Goliath) who gets tired of the same yard, house & things he’s used to. One day his curiousity about the world outside his fence & home leads him away on a little adventure. Consequently he gets lost, but in the end finds his way back home where he realized is the best place there is. We’ve talked about getting lost & what to do if they ever found themselves in that situation. God will be with them @ all times.
Our file folder activities have been on rhyming words, beginning sound /m/ & beginning sound /s/. Josh has done several pages of “math” practice. Our verse this week is “D”. “Do all things without complaining & disputing” Phil 2:14. I know this verses are really have an impact in the boys lives already. If they see someone angry or mean they say, “they aren’t being peacemakers”.
The blessings this week have been for a pleasing personality & pleasant words. Jonathan has started a daily devotion with them called, “Leading Little Ones to God” by Marian M. Schoolland. He spends that time individually w/ each boy. This weeks devotion is “Our Hearts Ask For God”. He will do the same devotion every night for a week so that they will have a chance to grasp some of the lessons/truths. I’m excited about this very, very much.
We read the book “Just in Case You Ever Wonder” by Max Lucado. It is included in the Max Lucado Children’s Treasury book I got for them. It was a wonderful story about how special they are & one we will no doubt read again & again.
All in all I am very pleased with our now first two months of “school”. I believe the kids are gaining an excitment & love for learning, memorizing scripture, doing art, reading stories & playing games. This is a time for fun learning that celebrates being a little kid. No pressure, not too many rules, just fun together. I thank God for my boys & the privilage to being their mother first of all & their teacher in life. May I always point them to the One who made them, has a plan for them & loves them far more than even their daddy & I do. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. The testimony of my lips will speak His praises all the days of my life… matter what.
